Description
Accomplice marks a further exploration by Lei Dance Theater into the possibilities of dance theatre. Beginning with the original version of Accomplice in 2016, which integrated dance with an adapted dramatic text, and developing into an immersive theatre format in 2019, the company has continued to search for a performance language in which dance and dramatic performance can be more fully integrated.
The work confronts the indifference of contemporary society. Through a diverse range of performance forms, it reflects upon social issues and current events in Taiwan, creating an ongoing process of reflection and dialogue within the performance.
Accomplice examines the violence of silence, collective bullying, human rights and freedom, and acts of indiscriminate violence—confronting the invisible yet deeply painful restraints carried within each of us.
