Inaugurated in the city of Hsinchu in 2017, LEI Dance Theater consists of dance and theater lovers and has extensively invited top-notch artists to create in residence. With theater production as its core mission, LEI Dance has rolled out a total of 14 productions over the past 8 years.
Among its diverse and interdisciplinary works, some delve into social issues while others comb through Taiwan’s culture and history and explore the local stories of Hsinchu – all presented through the language of contemporary dance theater.
LEI Dance’s preferred performance space is not limited to proscenium stage, but also includes highly interactive immersive theater and non-traditional environmental theater. LEI Dance has declared the four main axes of its operation as “international production”, “transnational collaboration”, “talent cultivation” and “educational promotion”.
