Impressions of Our Hometown traces the history and memories of Zhuqian, the historical name of Hsinchu, while expressing the creators’ deep affection for their hometown.

To gain a deeper understanding of the historical paths of the old city of Zhuqian, the creative team gathered a wide range of historical and cultural records and closely studied works of local literature. Through these archival materials and the evocative writing of local authors, the team sought to explore the cultural depth and emotional warmth of Hakka communities.

These memories and stories were then brought to the stage through the dancers’ bodies and a diverse range of visual and sonic elements. The work invites audiences to share in our collective memories of Hsinchu—the Windy City—and of Taiwan, bringing together and passing on our enduring connection to the land we call home.
