Lei Dance Theater’s latest production of 2022, FLOW, invited I-Ling Liu to serve as Guest Artistic Director. Continuing the development of the 2021 experimental creation project Five-Colored Bird ft. Chu-Ying Ku, Ting-Syu Lin and I-Ling Liu, the creative inquiry expanded from the duet developed for Five-Colored Bird toward “Hsinchu in the present.” From a broader perspective, the production explores issues rooted in Hsinchu. While extending the work’s duration and further developing its choreographic language, the shift in the number and configuration of dancers also became a means of continuing to investigate choreographic structures and methods, seeking possibilities for dance creation to engage in dialogue with contemporary society.

The programme consists of three dance works: …And, Or…, choreographed by I-Ling Liu, which received the Jury Prize at the 2022 Yokohama Dance Collection Competition in Japan; Realm of Illusion, choreographed by Chu-Ying Ku, which brings together contemporary dance and street-dance vocabularies to examine the degradation and transformation of the ecological environment; and The Subsiding World, choreographed by Ting-Syu Lin, which questions the nature of life and the conditions of existence.
