Description
FLOW is choreographed to express how people face the torrent of the times and the environment, and how we consciously or subconsciously follow current ideology in the trend of rapid information exchange and culture melting pot in Taiwan. FLOW expresses concerns for the society, and touches the inner dialogue between the conscious and subconscious of each person through the art of contemporary dance.
Structured as a double bill,, FLOW brings together two choreographic works that approach this question from different social and inner landscapes.
…And,Or…, choreographed by I-Ling Liu, takes inspiration from the public debate surrounding the proposed merger of Hsinchu City and County. Through a duet, the work reflects on the conditions, negotiations, and transformations that emerge when two entities attempt to form a relationship.
The Subsiding World, choreographed by Ting-Syu Lin, emerges from states of anxiety and restlessness that linger like an inescapable toxin. Set within a nocturnal psychological landscape, the work explores cycles of dissociation and eruption, searching for an inner refuge amid turbulence and sensory overload.
Together, these two duets form FLOW—a double bill that moves alongside uncertainty, coexists with confusion and solitude, and seeks self-awareness through the intersection of bodily movement and inner perception.
In 2023, FLOW was selected for international touring and was presented at the Festival Off Avignon in France, marking Lei Dance Theater’s participation in one of Europe’s most significant contemporary performing arts festivals.
