     Description

“How many falls are beyond our ability to catch?”

Directed by Tang-Cheng Liu and choreographed by Yi-Wen,Cheng.

The House is Lei Dance Theater’s first dance-theatre work to confront the phenomenon of lonely death—a condition unfolding in unseen time and space, without witnesses.

What remains are traces left behind—fragments of warmth held within memory, perhaps serving as keys to the possibility of reconciliation.

Saying goodbye has never been simple.
If we could truly say farewell, might it lessen regret and trauma?

Since 2019, Lei Dance Theater has been developing immersive theatre practices.
In 2020, the company was invited to the Taoyuan Iron Rose Festival with the immersive production Accomplice Online 2.0, continuing its engagement with contemporary social issues in Taiwan.

Building upon this trajectory, director Tang-Cheng Liu extends his ongoing exploration of indifference and silent violence, collaborating with guest choreographer Cheng Yi-Wen to examine life and death as a shared human condition.

As social connection becomes increasingly accessible in contemporary society, how is it that we, as inherently social beings, continue to lose contact with one another?

The House — a house left behind.

Before what remains,
how many falls were we unable to catch?

If our hands could hold one another a little tighter,
might there be less regret?

     Reviews & Press

The House addresses the rupture of social networks in contemporary society.
Approaching the issue of “lonely death” from multiple social perspectives,
the director and choreographer engaged in extensive reading and debate with the performers throughout the creation process.

Through collective improvisation, ideas were allowed to move freely—
meeting, colliding, and holding one another—
resulting in a work charged with a vital sense of tension and lived intensity.
